Morning Media Menu with NYT‘s Brian Stelter

mornmm.gifToday on the Menu, after overcoming some technical difficulties that Steve assures us is not the fault of New Jersey (where he is broadcasting from) we talk with the NYT‘s Brian Stelter about his A-1 story on Glenn Beck. Beck has seen viewer numbers sky-rocket for his 5pm slot at Fox News since moving there from HLN in January. Brian notes that Beck now ranks number three in all cable hosts, and says that considering the numbers have stayed steady through March it appears he may be more than a flash in the pan.

We also talk about cable networks attempting to charge for online content and why I think that is a terrible, backwards idea. And before Steve bolts for his train back into the city we touch upon HuffPo’s new investigative journalism venture.
