Politico Removes Idiot Reporter from Covering Idiot Todd Akin

Last night, Politico’s Dave Catanese took to Twitter to defend Todd Akin’s indefensible “legitimate rape” comments, and for that, he has been removed from covering the story. The New York Times reports that a memo from Politico’s top editors explained the situation:

David Catanese crossed a line a reporter shouldn’t cross on Twitter when he seemed to weigh in on the merits of Todd Akin’s comments — especially in a way many people, including many Politico colleagues, understandably found offensive.

Brilliant stuff.

Oh, and then — once he was rightly called out for being stupid — Catanese issued a classic non-apology apology:

We love how he says “on here,” as if it’s all Twitter’s fault.

Here are some things Catanese should learn: It is a fact that rape-related pregnancies happen quite often. It is a fact that women do not have a magical tool to shut down those unwanted pregnancies. And it is a fact that defending an idiot makes you an idiot.
