Jennifer, the online home base for Real Simple magazine, has created a new managing editor position to lead its digital team, and brought on an experienced Web editor to fill the role.

Jennifer Mirsky is joining the lifestyle site from Meredith Interactive, where she served as editor-in-chief of women’s lifestyle, overseeing content for, and Through her career, which has spanned more than two decades, Mirsky has also worked as vice president of editorial programming for NBC Universal‘s and vice president of the Hearst Magazine group for iVillage.

In her newly created position, Mirsky will be reporting to Real Simple managing editor Kristin van Ogtrop, who said, “Jennifer inherits an exceedingly strong team and a Web site that is growing robustly by the month. Her industry knowledge and expertise make Jennifer the ideal leader for taking to a whole new level.”

(New York, NY), January 6, 2010 — Jennifer Mirsky was named Managing Editor,, effective immediately, it was announced today by Real Simple Managing Editor, Kristin van Ogtrop. Mirsky joins the brand with more than 20 years of experience in digital, print and broadcast content development. She will report directly to van Ogtrop.

Most recently, Mirsky served as Editor-in-Chief, Women’s Lifestyle at Meredith Interactive, where she oversaw editorial content for, and Prior to that, she was Vice President, Editorial Programming at NBC Universal’s, responsible for leading the editorial teams of the Home & Garden and Food channels. As Vice President of the Hearst Magazine Group at iVillage, she oversaw the creation and production of 7 core magazine Web sites, plus additional Hearst sites, winning min’s Best of the Web award in 2002 for design ( and the application of e-commerce (Hearst Magazines). For ABCNEWS’, Mirsky produced the “Time Capsule,” an interactive online collection of people’s memories, which integrated user-generated content with expert programming.

Mirsky graduated cum laude with a B.A. from Yale University and earned a Master of Professional Studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Interactive Telecommunications Program. She was selected to participate in Coro’s Leadership New York program where professionals from the private, public, and non-profit sectors explore NYC’s most pressing urban policy issues. She is a member of the Digital Yale committee. She resides in Manhattan with her husband and Portuguese water dog.
