Self Launching Fashion Site

Self is getting set to launch a very Pinterest-like site, called Selfcurateyourlook. According to Adweek, the site — which launches in September — is being tabbed as a “virtual trunk show,” where visitors can browse products hand-picked by Self’s staff, which are presented in a catalogue format. If a person likes something, they can save it in their “look book,” share it with others via social media or even click through and purchase it.

As might guess, this site is music to advertisers’ ears. Laura McEwen, vice president and publisher of Self, understands this, though she puts it in a more eloquent way.

Self’s Virtual Trunk Show enables consumers to curate their own style while aligning with Self’s editorial fashion expertise and our advertisers’ brands,” McEwen told Adweek. “This site will also align Self more closely with our fashion and beauty partners.”

That’s a lot of aligning.
