Cover Battle: New York Times Magazine or V

unnamed

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s weekly Cover Battle. This round features The New York Times Magazine taking on V.

For its Innovations issue, the Times Mag went with a crumpled piece of paper with “In praise of Failure” written on it. It appears failing is a good tactic. High school would’ve been a lot easier if our teachers had known that.

Cover Battle: Rolling Stone or Shape

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s weekly Cover Battle. This round we have Rolling Stone taking on Shape.

Rolling Stone’s latest cover features a very young Bob Dylan trying his best to look like a homeless person. We think the tire is a little over-the-top, but hey, we’d probably throw Dylan a dollar if we saw him like that, so job well done.

Cover Battle: Details or Billboard

brad-pitt-620blog-cover-main

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s Cover Battle. This week we have Details taking on Billboard.

Details features a photo of Brad Pitt wearing an outfit that only he could pull off. Somehow, we view this cover and don’t think, “Why is this guy dressed like an eccentric and perhaps intoxicated 1920s airline baron?” Instead, we think “Silk yellow shirts with giant collars are great looking.” Behold the power of Pitt.

Cover Battle: Food Network Magazine or Variety

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s weekly Cover Battle. This round features Food Network Magazine taking on Variety.

For its November issue, Food Network went with Ina Garten carving a turkey. We chose this cover not because its aesthetically pleasing, but because we imagine this is exactly what Garten would look like if she were carving up a human. That look on her face is downright chilling. “C’mon in. Dinner’s almost ready. Tonight we’re having roast Tommy — I mean, roast turkey.”

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s weekly Cover Battle. This round is all SPORTS because well, that’s what we chose. Gotham versus ESPN The Magazine. Let’s go.

Gotham features the always handsome New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist smiling like someone who gets described as “the always handsome” a lot.

Cover Battle: Self or Town & Country

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s weekly Cover Battle. Today we have Self squaring off against Town & Country.

Self’s latest issue features Joan Smalls being “strong and sexy!” We don’t question that statement, but we do question the swimsuit. [Editor's note: The last pair of trunks I bought was from Old Navy for like 57 cents, so perhaps my swimsuit knowledge isn't up to par.]

Cover Battle: Time Out New York or W

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s weekly Cover Battle. This round features Time Out New York taking on W.

TONY‘s latest features a giant, melting popsicle. It looks like one you might buy from Mister Softee because you remember loving it as a kid. However, once you try it as an adult, it makes you want to vomit.
