Gwyneth Paltrow Isn’t Scared of Martha Stewart

Gwyneth Paltrow is never scared. When US Weekly asked the 42-year-old actress what she thought about Martha Stewart telling her to “be quiet,” Paltrow sarcastically replied, ”No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I’m shocked and devastated. I’ll try to recover.” You hear that Stewart? That’s big fat “whatevs.”

Paltrow is also not worried that her hiring former MSLO CEO Lisa Gersh would anger Stewart even more. In fact, she’s giddy about the hate.

“If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition,” she said. “I’m so psyched. I really am.”

Is there anything more ridiculous than two privileged, obscenely rich people feuding? No, there is not. Especially when they’re basically carbon copies of each other, like Paltrow and Stewart.

Turner to Cut 10 Percent of Workforce (TVNewser)
As part of Turner 2020, the cost-cutting and reorganization plan announced earlier this year, the parent company of CNN, HLN, TBS and others has announced it plans to cut 1,475 jobs. CNNMoney Turner Broadcasting, a unit of Time Warner Inc., will cut its total workforce by about 10 percent in the coming weeks through a mix of buyouts, layoffs and other measures, the company said Monday. Capital New York The headcount reduction will include buyouts of staff over the age of 55, layoffs and unfilled open roles. Staff that will be laid off will be informed within the next two weeks. That number also takes into consideration the addition of 150 new jobs in “growth areas” at the company. THR The cuts will come at all levels from across the news, entertainment, kids, young adult and sports networks and businesses as well as corporate functions, in 18 Turner locations around the world. About 300 positions will be eliminated within CNN Worldwide, or about 8.5 percent of the roughly 3,500-strong workforce. WSJ This summer, Time Warner rebuffed a takeover bid from 21st Century Fox Inc. Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes is under pressure to show Wall Street the company can deliver growth — and a higher stock price — on its own.

Gwyneth Takes the Goop Gloves Off

Remember that business last month, via Porter magazine, wherein Martha Stewart opined that Gwyneth Paltrow “just needs to be quiet”? Well, Stewart may soon be exclaiming: “She just needs to stay out of the print magazine business!”

LisaGershLinkedInPer Keith J. Kelly’s report, the hiring by Paltrow of former Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia CEO-president Lisa Gersh (pictured) as Goop CEO could be a prelude to the actress expanding her website brand into that Stewart, Oprah USPS territory:

Gersh, 55, who worked at NBC before MSLO and co-founded Oxygen Media, hinted that part of her job at Goop would be to bring new products to market. But she did not say if any of those new products would be a magazine.

Martha Stewart Wants Gwyneth Paltrow to ‘Be Quiet’

Shutterstock_MarthaStewartMartha Stewart has had it with Gwyneth Paltrow. In an interview with Porter magazine, Stewart sniped that no one can be her except her.

“She just needs to be quiet,” said Stewart. “She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.” Oh daaaaaaammmmmmnnnn.

This isn’t the first time Stewart has taken issue with what she perceives as actresses attempting to be like her. Regarding Blake Lively’s weird-as-hell lifestyle site Preserve, Stewart said “Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress?”

If Stewart willingly attacks Paltrow and Lively, is any female actress safe from her wrath? We highly doubt it.

Martha Stewart Blogs About Her Drone

Think of this as Google Earth with a Martha Stewart twist.

As noted this morning by the Observer‘s Sage Lazzaro, Stewart shared several dozen pictures of her stunning Bedford, New York farm compound shot from the air with a DJI Phantom drone flying camera. The apparatus was recently purchased by one of her security staff, Dominic Arena.

The above shot is Photo #13. Along with the Winter house where Stewart lives and the Tenant House where her daughter stays, there is also this stable.

Seth Meyers Has a Newfound Appreciation for Pockets

NPRFreshAirLogoThe Web headline for today’s NPR Fresh Air interview with Seth Meyers is a good example of click-baiting with integrity. Because listening to the conversation titled “Seth Meyers’ Late Night Challenge: What To Do With His Hands?” does indeed address and answer one of the first bits of self-conscious business for the incoming talk show host:

“The trickiest part of this job the first week was just figuring out what to do with my hands. I think one of the great discoveries I made at the show was the memory of pockets. I was like, ‘OK, I can put one of these away.’”

“I as a person in conversation tend to use my hands a great deal and I think my first couple of monologues I looked like someone on a desert island trying to signal for a passing plane.”

Danny Seo Magazine Contract Stipulates: He Will Not Be on the Cover

DannySeoPicGreen movement champion (a.k.a. “environmental lifestyle expert”) Danny Seo is our new, newsstand hero.

Per a report by Keith J. Kelly, Seo has a new magazine in the works, with the initial issue set for July. But unlike the Martha Stewart‘s and Oprah Winfrey‘s of this niche world, his monthly publication comes with a newsstand-environment-friendly caveat:

“I contractually said I will not be on the cover,” Seo told Media Ink. Seo expects to do split covers on the first issue. One will likely feature a still-life shot of a dairy-free “vegan ice cream,” the other will likely feature actress Ali Larter, the former Heroes star who is cast in a new TNT drama, Legends.
