Donna Halper

Donna L. Halper, PhD is an associate professor of Communication and Media Studies at Lesley University, Cambridge MA. She is the author of six books and many articles, and her work has appeared in newspapers, magazines, and academic journals. A well-known media historian, she is frequently quoted on radio programs, on podcasts, and in print, discussing popular culture, baseball history, the history of broadcasting, media stereotypes, the history of fake news, etc. In 2023, she was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

2021 Jinx Broussard Award for the Teaching of Media History (Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication) Chosen as keynote speaker at national conventions and conferences (speaking on topics such as how to detect fake news, a history of media stereotypes about "the other," forgotten pioneers in journalism, etc.)
