First Glimpse of Stephen King’s Next Novel

On his official website, Stephen King has released details of his thousand-page novel, “Under the Dome.” Simon & Schuster will publish the book in November.

According to the Guardian, the book took 25-years to write, as King struggled with the idea of a town sealed inside a mysterious force filed. The book has over 100 characters, a sweeping story like his epic novel, “The Stand.” In a video interview earlier this year, GalleyCat spoke with King about Amazon’s Kindle 2.

Here’s the official summary: On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester’s Mills, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener’s hand is severed as ‘the dome’ comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when–or if–it will go away.” (Link via Tor.com)
