Free Shakespeare Round-Up

If you live near New York City, summer means lots of free theater in the park. We’ve rounded-up some outdoor Shakespeare plays running until the end of the season.

Shakespeare in the Park’s musical adaptation of Love’s Labor’s Lost kicks off today. Attendees who want to see this have until August 18th to camp out for free tickets.

Hudson Warehouse presents King Lear for its tenth season. Attendees will be able to see this year’s “Other Free Shakespeare in the Park” play until July 28th.

The 9th edition of Harlem Summer Shakespeare will be offering The Taming of the Shrew at Riverside State Park. The last day to catch this play will be on August 4th.

The Hip Hop Theatre Company has been hopping all over parks in Queens to put on two comedies. The final date for Love’s Labor’s Lost has been scheduled for August 16th and The Tempest will follow on August 17th.

Shakespeare in the Parking Lot has two different plays running this summer: Cymbeline and Richard III. Performances for Cymbeline ends on July 27th; Richard III starts on August 1st and will continue until August 17th.
