Olafur Eliasson has collaborated with the laser-cutting company Kremo on Your House, a three-dimensional scaled representation of Eliasson's house created by making precise cuts to 454 sheets of paper which were then bound together as a book. Speaking of expensive books, I was forwarded a press release last week from the PR firm representing Gloria Books, a UK-based publisher specializing in what it describes as "big, uncompromising luxury books that are touched with genius." Their latest project, after a $3,000 tribute to Pelé and a $3,950 book on "superyachts," is taking orders for a forthcoming volume on New York. "Weighing in at a little over 26 pounds, the book is 16.5 inches x 12.5 inches," according to the release, "covered in embossed Setalux Italian silk, and comes encased in a smoked acrylic skyscraper standing at 20.5 inches in height." The basic edition of the book, which features a mix of old and new essays about the city and photos from the likes of Annie Leibovitz, Patrick Demarchelier, and David Bailey, costs $3,500—practically a bargain when you consider the deluxe edition's $14,500.
