Madonna Reads Pablo Neruda

To celebrate National Poetry Month, we found a video featuring pop star Madonna and her reading of the poem “If You Forget Me.” Pablo Neruda originally wrote this poem in Spanish and called it “Si Tu Me Olvidas.”

Madonna’s reading is featured on The Postman (Il Postino) movie soundtrack. It also contains poetry recitations delivered by Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts, UK musician Sting, and The Avengers actor Samuel L. Jackson.

Neruda, a celebrated Chilean writer, won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971. You can read more pieces written by Neruda at The Poetry Foundation’s website. What’s your favorite Pablo Neruda poem?

Tiger Woods Gets Comic Book

Tiger Woods will star in a new comic book from Bluewater Productions. Fame: Tiger Woods was written by CW Cooke and illustrated by Marcelo Salaza. It includes a cover by Tony Foti.

The book covers the athlete’s life–from his rise as the most successful golfer in history to his personal problem with infidelities. Here is more from Blue Productions: “Come inside and see how his life lead him to be one of the most famous sports stars in the history of the United States and the world and learn about the man behind all of these news stories. Go for a hole in one with this comic detailing the life story of this major athlete.”

The $3.99 comic hits stores this week. The comic is part of the Bluewater Productions’ “Fame” comic book series. Others in the series include: Madonna, Martha Stewart and Charlie Sheen.

Madonna To Star in Comic Book

Madonna has had a pretty colorful life, and pretty soon you’ll be able to see it in full color. Independent publisher Bluewater Productions has a new comic book coming out in August based on the star’s life.

Female Force: Madonna is the illustrated story of the star’s life as written by CW Cooke and drawn by Michael Johnson. The book tells the story of how a struggling dancer in New York became one of the biggest pop stars in history. The book also highlights Madonna’s influence on other artists. “Most pop stars owe everything to this woman. It’s amazing all of the things that she’s done in her lifetime, and I have a feeling that this is still only the beginning,” stated Cooke.

Bluewater’s Female Force series featured other prominent women, including: Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, JK Rowling, Ellen Degeneres and Sarah Palin.

Lindsay Lohan & James Franco Reportedly Will Pose for Racy Photography Book

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly signed a £2.1million deal to pose for a nude photography book. According to The Daily Mirror, Academy Award host James Franco will be her partner for this project.

The video embedded shows the pair in the trailer for an imaginary action film in the 2006 film, The Holiday. Lohan and Franco will be shot by celebrity photographer Terry Richardson. In the past, Richardson has snapped the pictures of Lady GagaLeonardo DiCaprio, Jay-Z, and many others.

The Mirror reports: “Richardson has persuaded Lindsay and James to get involved. He has assured them it will be provocative but tasteful … Obviously there will be comparisons to Madonna’s 1992 Sex book. But James and Lindsay believe theirs will be classier.” (Via Sarah Weinman)

Former Madonna Nanny Tell-All to Crown

Not two days after Entertainment Weekly reported on a proposal by Madonna’s former nanny, Melissa Dumas, making the rounds, Publishers Marketplace reports that a deal’s been struck for LIVE TO TELL: My Life as Madonna’s Nanny by Lindsey Moore at Crown. The September 2007 release went for “major deal” (aka $500,000 and up) money, and Sharlene Martin is the agent of record for the book, pitched as “an account of working in all four of the pop star’s homes and the details of her home life, including such matters as house rules (no noise-even running water — while Madonna is sleeping, and a ban on television, newspapers or magazines)”. In other word, a tabloid’s wet dream just sold for big bucks.
