Filmmakers May Digitally Recreate Philip Seymour Hoffman For ‘Mockingjay’ Films

jayposterRumors are swirling in Hollywood that the team behind The Hunger Games film franchise will “digitally recreate late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman in a major yet-to-be-shot scene.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hoffman, who plays the head gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee, had largely completed his work for Mockingjay Part 1. However, he had been scheduled for seven more days of shooting to finish Mockingjay Part 2.

The NY Post reports that the film editors plan to “use computer graphics and camera tricks” so that they can avoid re-writing the script. Thus far, Lionsgate seems set to unleash both films on their scheduled release dates. Mockingjay Part 1 comes out on November 21, 2014 and Mockingjay Part 2 will follow on November 20, 2015.
