Canada's Globe and Mail reports that Telus is planning a new youth-oriented cell phone brand called Koodo Mobile to compete with rival services Virgin Mobile Canada and Fido brands.

Although the telco is reportedly not spilling any details, according to the paper, "a kiosk with the name Koodo Mobile is being set up in Toronto's Eaton Centre, and a mall directory at the Pickering Town Centre in Ontario lists Koodo Mobile in its online directory."

The paper also says that Telus has registered the Koodo Mobile name in several Canadian provinces and has snagged the koodomobile.ca Internet domain.

Telus first attempted to tackle the Canadian youth market in partnership with US-based MVNO Amp'd Mobile, but that flopped when Amp'd went belly-up.
