Are you looking for a free site to send out your press releases? British tech PR agency Vitis has just released the first of several studies evaluating the free services, and found that just a sliver of them are getting your release on to Google News.
Vitis examined 60 services and only five percent of them got the job done.
The sites did better at getting releases on to Google’s search index: 49 percent did that.
It’s not terribly surprising that the best free press release site reaching journalists, bloggers, editors, and other influencers had no clear result. None won that contest, mainly due to the overwhelming number of press releases out there in cyberspace and the equally massive number of sites on which they land.
But there did emerge a winner in the best free press release site reaching Google News: Online PR News. The runners up were Open PR and PR Fire. Online PR News got three of Vitis’ four releases on Google News. PR Fire only got one release onto Google News while Open PR got two of them there.
