Hypocrisy May Doom Olbermann
News broke today that Keith Olbermann has been suspended indefinitely and without pay for his failure to report his Democratic donations to NBC leadership. While the move broke a company policy that has taken him off the air, it’s Olbermann’s double-talk that may be his undoing.
Recently, Olbermann declared Rupert Murdoch the “worst person in the world” because of his political donations. According to the Mr. Media Training blog, “righteous crusaders” like Olbermann, Rush Limbaugh, and Eliot Spitzer, have little room for these sorts of ethical breaches.
Mr. Media Training (a.k.a. Brad Phillips of Phillips Media Relations) suggests a “heartfelt apology” of the sort that Lawrence O’Donnell delivered to Michael Steele as a way for Olbermann to right this one. What do you think?
