Pacquiao, Marquez Heads to CNN

Pacquiao vs. Marquez in 2008
Boxing fans out there are getting a little love from HBO and parent company Time Warner, which has agreed to a pay-per-view deal for the November 12 bout between pugilist/singer/politician Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. In addition to airing the fight, another Time Warner station, CNN, will be promoting it.
HBO documentary series Pacquiao-Marquez 24/7, about the lead-up to the fight, will air on CNN, as will an interview between Pacquaio and an ESPN reporter, Dan Rafael.
As our sister blog TVNewser points out, these sorts of cross-promotions are common on broadcast stations. They’re also something to keep in mind when you’re pulling together a media strategy: If a media company has a few different spots where your story can work from different angles, see if you can create a super-pitch for all of them, with ideas for fresh content in each outlet.
