Privacy Concerns Had No Effect On Facebook’s Brand Popularity in 2009

Facebook has faced heat numerous times in the past over privacy concerns – from it’s Beacon advertising program in 2008, to changes in personal privacy settings in December 2009.

However, all of these issues have had no effect on the Facebook brand, according to one study. YouGov’s BrandIndex monitored consumer perception of the Facebook brand, and showed perception improved almost 20% in 2009, making Facebook the second most improved brand behind Ford.

The YouGov BrandIndex polls 5,000 people each weekday from an online sample of more than 1.5 million individuals. Margin of error is plus or minus 2%.
