Roll Call: Hearst Magazines, NNPA, and News Corp

Jeffrey Hamill has been named executive vice president of sales and marketing at Hearst Magazines. He had been senior vice president, advertising sales and marketing for the magazine division of Hearst Corporation since January 1988. The promotion is effective immediately and will involve managing Hearst Integrated Media, which oversees all group advertising sales and marketing efforts for the company’s 20 consumer magazine brands, as well as the corporate research group and the corporate direct response team. Bill Tompkins has been named president and CEO at National Newspaper Publishers Association. He currently heads his own consultancy firm, Williams Tompkins Associates, in Los Angeles and had previously been VP and general manager of the motion picture film group at Eastman Kodak Company. (MB)

According to AdWeek, News Corp Chief Digital Officer Jonathan Miller is leaving his position at the end of September and will work as an “outside advisor” to the company for roughly a year. Miller’s exit comes as the latest in a series of top position changes at News Corp. Peter Rice was promoted to chairman of Fox Networks Group last month, Kevin Reilly was promoted to chairman of entertainment last week, and David Haslingden has stepped down as COO of Fox Entertainment.
