The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has chosen Ruder Finn as its U.S. and international PR firm amid controversy over the country’s new government. NGOs say the government took power in a coup. The Maldives Commission of National Inquiry is looking into the matter and, Ruder Finn tells The Holmes Report, if the body finds that the government took power illegally, it will resign immediately.

Premium pet food company Merrick Pet Care has chosen Carmichael Lynch Spong as PR AOR. The firm will work on the brand relaunch campaign, The Merrick Food Revolution, which starts in June.

Protagonist, the North American AOR for Italian coffee company Lavazza, has chosen Susan Magrino Agency and Upshot for help with an integrated PR program. Susan Magrino Agency will work on media relations. Upshot is a marketing firm with experience in consumer brands. And Protagonist will handle social media, firm coordination, and integrated strategy and creative.

Susan Blond Inc. has added a number of new clients to its roster including winner of the first season of The Voice, Javier Colon (pictured above), 16-year-old Canadian singer Tyler Medeiros, and restaurant Segafredo Zanetti Espresso NYC.

Southwest Airlines has chosen Edelman to “streamline communications” over the course of a one-year project that will be handled by the firm’s new Business + Social Purpose practice. [via]
