Peters began her new role on Tuesday, September 4, reporting to executive vice president and consumer group director Liz Van Lenten. The part she plays in company operations will be twofold: She will provide counsel to existing clients while seeking “new business development opportunities.” She will also expand the “agency’s Midwest presence in the consumer space.”
Peters, of course, has a long history in the PR industry: She worked as executive vice president and group head in consumer practice at Edelman for several years, expanding the agency’s relationships with consumer packaged goods clients as diverse as Bush’s Beans, Brita, Clorox and Dannon.
Prior to joining Edelman, she founded her own firm called Susan Peters Consulting; the company specializes in managing events and executing specialized PR projects. Peters also performed promotional work for Super Bowl XXVI, in which the favored Washington Redskins clobbered the Buffalo Bills and clinched their last national title.
Regarding her hire, Peters said, “As a brand PR professional, I’m impressed with Ogilvy’s truly 360 approach to communications, so I’m very excited to join Liz and the consumer practice to help further differentiate our B2C offering through purpose marketing, a real passion of mine.”
