Roll Call: Havas Worldwide, BBDO, Cookerly Public Relations, and More

Havas Worldwide announced the appointment of Tim Maleeny as chief strategy officer, Havas Worldwide New York, where he will be responsible for all aspects of strategy at the New York flagship agency. In addition, Tim will share the North American chief strategy officer responsibilities with James Lou, who is chief strategy officer of Havas Worldwide Chicago. Maleeny is one of the industry’s leading strategic thinkers, running the largest planning department in the country as head of strategic planning at Ogilvy New York before joining Havas Worldwide. In his new role, he will be overseeing the New York strategy department. Maleeny will also serve on the New York agency’s executive committee. (Release)

Nearly three years after joining up with BBDO New York as executive vice president/group planning director on the AT&T account, Jeff Kenyon has been appointed head of planning for the agency. Kenyon joined BBDO after serving as group planning director at Ogilvy on campaigns including IBM’s “Smarter Planet” and “My Life, My Card” for American Express. (AgencySpy)

He has served as a vital member of senior-level teams responsible for creating and implementing communications and marketing plans to audiences on a local, national and global level. Aston Martin has chosen Porter Novelli as its AOR in China after a competitive search. Outreach efforts will target ultra-high net worth individuals across China with social media and influencer outreach. John Orme, senior partner with the firm, said in a statement that the first order of business is to launch Aston Martin’s Weibo account and to prepare for this month’s Beijing Auto Show. (Weibo is the Chinese version of Twitter.)

PN was also chosen as the global AOR for Room Key, an online hotel search engine founded by a consortium of hotel companies including Hilton, Choice Hotels, and InterContinental. The firm will work on influencer outreach, social media programs, and other PR initiatives.

Tupperware has chosen RF|Binder as its AOR handling international business and financial comms, product communications, branding, and outreach related to the “Brands of Confidence” campaign focused on female empowerment.

Burger King has issued an RFP, meaning the burger chain will be ending its relationship with Edelman. The firm had worked with Burger King since 2005. According to Ad Age, the company’s PR spend has decreased in recent years.

Interactive ad agency Rokkan has chosen 5WPR as AOR. Rokkan launched in 2000 and has 50 employees. It has worked with clients including Virgin America, Chipotle, and Time Warner.

SunTrust Banks has chosen Cookerly Public Relations for a social media program in support of the bank’s “Live Solid. Bank Solid.” branding campaign. The work will focus on  Facebook and Twitter initiatives. Cookerly has worked with SunTrust since 2009.
