The Music Industry Won the NBA All-Star Game

The NBA All-Star Game brought together the biggest names in basketball over the weekend. This year’s game had the highest ratings  since 2003 when Michael Jordan played.  But all anyone can talk about are the celebrities in general, and Justin Bieber specifically.

Bieber was the MVP of the All-Star Celebrity game. He sat courtside with Rihanna who also performed. Names also being tossed around from the big weekend – Jay-Z, Kanye West (and his crazy pants), Drake, Beyoncé, and Diddy. Did the Grammys decide to make it a two-week affair this year? (As a side note, the Grammys got slammed by a former exec in a full-page ad in the Times.)

The only ballplayer to get any media coverage was Kobe Bryant, and it wasn’t really for his on-court performance. The Laker is the first non-actor to have his hands and feet immortalized at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. BTW, he was the All-Star Game’s MVP and the West won the game.
