The ‘NY Times’ is Tops on Twitter

With 3,062,437, The New York Times is the only U.S. newspaper with more than one million Twitter followers, giving it the number one spot on the list of top newspapers on Twitter, TheWrap reports. Second is The Chicago Tribune with 829,742 followers, followed by The Wall Street Journal with 748,933.

The NYT also launched a new Tumblr yesterday, and has installed a new paywall system.

The article also notes that The San Francisco Chronicle and New York Newsday both more than doubled their number of Twitter followers, and the large leap The Washington Post took.

The Daily (which is only available on the iPad) and international newspapers weren’t included.
