Trump Says His GOP Endorsement Means Something

When The Donald announced that he wasn’t running for President back in May, we’d hoped we were done with his political antics. But alas! He has re-inserted himself into the fray with the announcement that he will be moderating a GOP debate in Iowa on December 27. More than that, he’s billing himself as the GOP’s ultimate endorser.

“Some magazines have said I am the single most important endorsement a presidential candidate can have. I don’t know if that’s true, but it wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t say that to brag; I just tell it like it is,” Politico quotes him saying.

A couple of candidates aren’t buying it. Jon Huntsman has declined (Trump says he’s the decliner), with Huntsman’s peeps sending a message on Twitter: “Lol. We look forward to watching Mitt and Newt suck-up to The Donald with a big bowl of popcorn.”

And Ron Paul’s campaign chairman (oh you Ron Paul!) also responded, saying Trump’s inclusion “is beneath the office of the Presidency.”

Haha. But seriously, you know Donald Trump doesn’t give a damn what they say.

He says, “Huntsman could use a little show biz to get his numbers up.” And, “Ron Paul has zero chance.”

More than that, Trump’s getting credibility by way of the current front-runner Newt Gingrich who has joined forces with Trump on some wacky scheme involving poor, innocent children who will be scarred for life by their unfortunate association with this mess.

Ultimately, and sadly, The Donald knows what he’s doing. He’s promoting his book, his show, his duties as moderator, and pumping up his own reputation through his continued involvement with the GOP candidates, all to full effect.

Many can play at that game. CNN’s Roland Martin also asserts that Newsmax is pulling this stunt to gain subscribers. And Business Insider says Huntsman has seen the value of using Trump’s name to show how anti-Trump he is. And then of course, there’s Gingrich, who gets press time via an appearance with Trump for their big plan to help the youth. MSNBC even gets a little residual buzz by having Donald Trump come on and show what a jerk he is during an interview with Chuck Todd this morning.

The PR-ing from Donald Trump never ends.
