100 Days News Conference: Notes

President Barack Obama‘s news conference tonight at 8pmET will mark his 100th day in office, and each network plans to carry it differently (and one, not at all). FishbowlDC has a detailed list, and WebNewser looks at how CNN and YouTube plan to cover it online. Also happening online — a TVNewser live blog, where you can participate too, starting at 8pmET. Some TV notes:

• CNN’s coverage, anchored by Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, John King and Soledad O’Brien continues until 11pmET, and includes interactive voting throughout the night. An AC360 Special — CNN National Report Card begins. Then Larry King Live at MidnightET.

• FNC pushes back the schedule by an hour, with The O’Reilly Factor at 9pmET, Hannity at 10 and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren at 11.

• MSNBC airs a special edition of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” at 9pmET, followed by The Rachel Maddow Show at 10 and Hardball with Chris Matthews at 11.

• PBS and C-SPAN will carry the news conference live as well.

BBC World News America has some unique coverage, beginning at 7pmET tonight. Click continued to see the release…

BBC World News America takes an original approach to marking the first 100 days of the Obama administration with the first installment of a recurring series looking at the new era of American politics through the lens of an African American family. It airs as part of a special edition of BBC World News America on Wednesday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT on BBC AMERICA and BBC World News.

Presented by anchor Matt Frei In The Family chronicles the aspirations, hopes and experiences of The Jones’ family from Atlanta, Georgia and their extended ‘family tree’ throughout the United States.

In Wednesday’s piece Matt gets the family’s take on the Obama administration and the impression he’s made on their lives 100 days in. They discuss the personal impact of the economic downturn and how it’s affected their political outlook. Matt meets the retired father, Jimmy Jones, who is once again looking for work since his 401K was hit by the recession and his wife, Ramona Jones, a Project Manager for France Telecom who is concerned about their stability in the current economy. Their new home in the suburbs remains only partially furnished and they’re anxious about the employment prospects for their college age children.

In the coming months Matt will be keeping up with the Joneses in Atlanta and will visit their extended family in Charlotte NC, Boston MA, Oakland CA and beyond.

Other features to mark the first 100 days include:

BBC World News America turns the spotlight on the First Lady with an in-depth report from Philippa Thomas. The story looks at the development of Michelle Obama’s public profile and asks how she can go beyond her popular image as stylish mom and wife to make her personal impression on this new era of American politics. The piece also features an insider’s view of the First Lady from her close personal friend Penny Pritzker and a visit to a Chicago Community Center to talk to young people who have embraced Michelle Obama as a role model.

North America Editor Justin Webb follows the day’s events and reports on how the president is marking his first 100 days in office.

Gabriel Ladeen, an army officer who presented his personal hopes for the presidency in BBC World News America’s Notes to Obama, offers his assessment of the administration’s performance so far.
