CNN Begins Looking for a ‘SOTU’ Replacement
Politico’s Michael Calderone hears that CNN has begun contacting potential replacements for John King on “State of the Union” once he leaves to anchor the network’s new 7pmET weekday broadcast:
So far, sources tell me that the network has reached out to a few internal candidates to gauge their interest: Candy Crowley, Ed Henry and Gloria Borger.
But CNN’s also looking outside the the network. Indeed, the network has contacted Gwen Ifill about the Sunday job, too. Executives have also recently spoke with Ted Koppel, but it’s unclear whether that’s for the Sunday morning job or another possibility at the network.
