EEOC Sues Fox News, FNC Says it is ‘Politically Motivated’

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is suing Fox News Channel for allegedly retaliating against one of its reporters, Catherine Herridge. In 2007, Herridge lodged a complaint with manageemnt saying that she had been discriminated against due to her age and gender. Eventually, the two sides settled and Herridge signed a new contract.

Indeed, Herridge still works for FNC, and appeared on the network just this morning, as pictured here.

FNC responded to Mediaite, with EVP of legal & business affairs Dianne Brandi writing in a statement that politics was behind the lawsuit:

“The EEOC’s suspiciously timed press release is nothing more than a partisan statement about a politically motivated lawsuit.”

The statement is likely a response to President Obama’s comments last week that FNC promotes a “destructive” point of view.
