“Today” began its coverage from London for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee this morning. Former co-anchor, now special correspondent Meredith Vieira fronted the coverage and will be joined by Matt Lauer on Tuesday.

“Weekend Today” continues the coverage tomorrow — which is Epsom Derby Day, if you didn’t know. On Sunday, the show will have a preview of the Thames Jubilee Pageant.

Perhaps it’s fitting that Vieira is covering the Queen since she played the monarch during “Today’s” Halloween show last Fall, even flipping her wig at one point.

This morning Vieira previewed the festivities live from the Tower of London and on Monday, she’ll broadcast live from Buckingham Palace.
