• Can “Today” top their Star Wars theme from last year? The costumes are always “top secret” an NBC News spokesperson tells us, so we’ll have to wait and see. One person who won’t be participating live on the plaza: anchor Matt Lauer who is on assignment.

• CBS’ “The Early Show,” which TVNewser proclaimed “won” last year with Harry Smith‘s Julia Child costume, will reveal their costumes tomorrow at their Halloween event on “The Early Show” plaza(across the street from where Charlie Sheen trashed a hotel room this week). CBS’s self-proclaimed “extravaganza” will have a performance by “School of Rock, the annual Trick-or-Treat alley for kids, and chef Katie Lee will provide tips on preparing Ghoulish cocktails.

• GMA is doing a countdown to Halloween series. Sadly, the anchors do not plan on dressing up.  When George Stephanopoulos was brought on as GMA co-anchor late last year, Bob Thompson, of Syracuse University doubted that he would participate in such events telling TVNewser:  “I can’t see him showing up on Halloween dressed like Peter Pan.” Stephanopoulos (along with his GMA colleagues) have already started in the festivities on ABCNews.com:
