Oh Boy, No George…or Ashlee on the Plaza

TVDecoder’s Brian Stelter gets the story behind two Today show concert series cancellations: Ashlee Simpson tomorrow and Boy George on Monday.

Ms. Simpson was scheduled to perform on Friday. But, as any devotee of the gossip columns knows, the singer is pregnant. Apparently the singer decided the Today stage wasn’t an appropriate place for a mom-to-be. (NBC declined to comment.)

Mr. George (real name George O’Dowd), who was last heard from in the 1980s, was scheduled to perform on Monday, kicking off a United States tour. He himself confirmed the cancellation last week, saying that his visa application had been turned down because he faces assault charges in his native Britain.
