Orth: “All This Love Has Helped Protect Us”
The Today show ‘s Matt Lauer interviewed Maureen Orth this morning about her September Vanity Fair cover story of French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
The interview marked the first television interview for Orth since the death of her husband Tim Russert last month. After discussing the feature story, Lauer turned his attention to Tim.
“We’re doing great,” said Orth. “We have received so much love and concern from everyone, starting with you guys at NBC.”
Orth joked about some of the surprising coverage after Russert’s death. “You have to know his People Magazine cover knocked off the Summer’s Hottest Bachelors,” she said. “He broke the Britney Spears record for most hits on People.com. This would make Tim so happy, make him laugh so hard.”
