Sunday Show Tryouts?

With a couple soon-to-be-departing Sunday show anchors taking some time off over the last few weeks, we may have been witnessing a mini tryout during the holidays.

Jake Tapper and Terry Moran each filled in on ABC’s “This Week.” Both are rumored to be in contention for the job, once George Stephanopoulos steps down to concentrate on his new gig at “Good Morning America.”

Another show that will soon be in need of a new host is CNN’s “State of the Union,” which John King is departing as he takes over a new weekday progam on the network. Candy Crowley and Gloria Borger both stepped in over the holidays for King and are rumored to be on the short list.

In the midst of this, Hotline points out an interesting side note: David Gregory hasn’t missed a broadcast since he started more than a year ago.
