Professional Experience

When I first started covering fashion for my hometown newspaper in 1999, I was assigned to draft a 20-inch piece based on a sit-down with former Redskins quarterback Joe Theisman. He was dying his salt-and-pepper gray hair this beautiful chestnut brown with some "Just for Men" box brand and the media was going crazy for it. For a diehard news junkie, the piece was fluff, but it was fun. And I was suddenly hooked on writing about the lighter side of life. Eleven years later, my career as a fashion and features writer has placed me in all kinds of interesting places and introduced me to more than a few interesting faces. And while fashion and beauty have been my focus, I've also been able to concentrate on plenty of home, parenting and other general lifestyle stories. Today, I'm taking my staff experience and turning it into a lucrative freelance career.
