Professional Experience

A prolific freelancer, my biggest strength is my ability to cover any type of story thoroughly, accurately and with integrity. An in-depth, five-page PEOPLE Magazine profile of a boy with selective mutism that was picked up by the Today show for a six-minute segment? Check. A tongue-in-cheek chat with Tiny Fey and her husband about parenthood? Check. Details on Heath Ledger's death and the Amish school massacre? Humbly check. I work hard, I'm fascinated by it all and I rarely get tired. Contact me and see for yourself--and check out my Web site at www.kathyehrichdowd.com for more details about me.

Selective Mutism: Why Jacob Won't Talk
(PEOPLE Magazine 2/18/2008)
This is a five-page PEOPLE story on Jacob Hanna, a 7-year-old boy with a rare childhood anxiety disorder known as selective mutism. I reported on Jacob for several months and the story was eventually picked up by the Today show.
