Morgan McDermott

Morgan McDermott writes and teaches in Chicago. He attended the University of Iowa’s writing program on the Nicholas Meyer Playwriting Scholarship. For many years he served as an editor for the literary journal StoryQuarterly. His collection Owner’s Manual won the Ohio State Prize in Short Fiction and garnered over thirty national and international awards, including an Illinois Arts Council’s Literary Award, the University of Virginia’s Meridian Editor’s Prize in Fiction, and a Breadloaf Scholarship from Middlebury College. The story “Clutch” from this collection was included in the 100 Notable Stories list in Best American Short Stories.
