CDOC LEGAL ASSISTANT I - LAW LIBRARIAN (Delta) position at Colorado Department of Revenue.

Location

Delta, CO. Open only to Colorado state residents.

Job Summary

Assist adult offenders on legal matters, maintain law libraries, provide legal research assistance, supervise staff, manage computer and equipment, monitor security, produce statistical reports, and support other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal research assistance to offenders and staff.
  • Monitor and manage offender legal access computers, including legal research programs.
  • Identify, categorize, and log materials to be photocopied; deliver to requesting offenders.
  • Collect, compile, and enter data for monthly statistical reports.
  • Maintain logs of supply and equipment use.
  • Search law libraries for contraband per state statute.
  • Supervise, hire, and terminate offender clerks.
  • Provide notary services.
  • Assist with offenders’ behavioral management plans.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA‑approved program or accredited institution.
  • Or two (2) years of paralegal experience that includes legal research, drafting, and data compilation (must be described in application).
  • Must obtain a paralegal certificate within nine (9) months of hiring.
  • JD may substitute for certificate.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Age 21 or older and legal right to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting complex rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Advanced knowledge of laws, court procedures, and government regulations.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license (or required to have one before employment).
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • No felony convictions of the types specified in Colorado statutes.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Success in Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training modules.
