A rewarding opportunity is available for a dedicated Visually Impaired Teacher to support K-12 students in a dynamic school environment located in Des Moines, IA. This contract position calls for a passionate educator committed to enhancing the learning experiences of visually impaired students, ensuring they have the tools and support needed to thrive academically and socially. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement specialized instructional strategies tailored to the needs of visually impaired students across all grade levels K-12. Assess students abilities and create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with state and federal guidelines. Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to integrate appropriate accommodations and modifications. Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials to facilitate student learning and independence. Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and provide ongoing communication and support to stakeholders. Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters confidence and self-advocacy. Desired Qualifications: Certification or licensure in Teaching Students with Visual Impairments. Experience working with visually impaired students in a K-12 educational setting. Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Dedication to student-centered teaching and fostering accessibility in education.
