Job Summary The Client Stabilization Specialist is a shelter or temporary lodging site‑based position whose primary role is to work with individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The position ensures that individuals or families entering shelter or temporary lodging are stabilized. Responsibilities include conducting intakes into HMIS, providing education on rules and responsibilities, orienting individuals while in shelter or lodging, performing face‑to‑face visits and perimeter walks, escalating issues that impact stabilization, communicating with leadership and Client Care Coordinators about program violations, coordinating services for individuals with complex substance use, mental health, housing, and medical care needs, and completing data entry into established data systems such as violations, end‑of‑shift notes, and room checks. The Specialist also identifies the need for a housing prioritization assessment for all individuals.
Skills / Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of six months of recovery from substance use and/or mental health disorders required.
1‑3 years of full‑time health care related work experience, preferably with exposure to both behavioral and medical crisis situations.
