Advertised Job Summary The Darla Moore School of Business invites applications for the HRBP ­– HR Specialist position within the Office of Human Resources. The HRBP ­– HR Specialist performs a variety of HR functions related to employment, pay, and annual processes. Ensure operational accuracy and efficiency by initiating and monitoring assigned HR activities. Serve as liaison to departments and business specialists and support HR staff as needed.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1 or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of certification, training, education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of USC HR policies, State of SC HR Regulations and applicable federal HR laws/regulations specific to higher education.

Prior experience in cross‑functional HR program management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to handle data with confidentiality.

Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Knowledge of state and federal HR laws and regulations.

Ability to analyze requests for compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

Clear, accurate and effective writing skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide direct service to employees to resolve issues such as payroll, time & labor, and benefits. (20% of time)

Initiate and track the full process for hiring proposals, draft offer letters, assign onboarding; initiate Form I‑9, complete E‑Verify, resolve tentative non‑confirmations, supplement B reverifications; review applications and engage State HR Consultant; complete transfer forms for all internal movements.

Initiate and approve transactions within PeopleSoft (HCM) for reappointments, tenure, promotion, retention, pay for performance, equity, changes to hours worked; approve additional assignments; coordinate and approve status changes (excluding involuntary) for separations, retirements, sabbaticals, professional leave and leaves of absence.

Support faculty: coordinate summer compensation, collect credentials, monitor and advise on required training for faculty and leaders.

Benefits support: initiate and approve absences and timesheets; provide benefits information; escalates inquiries to appropriate parties.

Recruitment support: oversee recruitment of all temporary and adjunct faculty position types, confirm qualifications, coordinate recruitment & search interviews; research external posting platforms.

Escalate moderate to high‑level issues to HR staff and provide general administrative support; serve as backup to HR staff during absence or high volume. (5% of time)
