Collections Specialist

The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing the full collections cycle for an assigned portfolio of accounts. This role partners closely with internal teams to reduce aging, mitigate risk, and ensure timely resolution of payment issues while maintaining positive customer relationships. Key Responsibilities

Manage and execute daily collections activities for all assigned customer accounts Drive performance against collection goals, including aging reduction and collection activity targets Review accounts receivable on a daily basis, identifying delinquent or high-risk accounts and escalating concerns to management as needed Lead and participate in recurring AR review meetings with internal service centers and stakeholders Perform detailed account reconciliations, researching billing discrepancies and submitting correction requests to the Billing team Identify and report misapplied payments to the Cash Applications team for timely resolution Research unapplied or on-account payments and support reconciliation efforts in partnership with Cash Applications Monitor duplicate payments and overpayments, coordinating customer notifications and refund processing Collaborate with Legal to support timely filing of lien and bond claims when required Maintain accurate documentation and provide clear communication across all internal departments Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections or accounts receivable Strong attention to detail with the ability to reconcile complex accounts Excellent communication and follow-up skills Ability to prioritize workload and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Billing, Cash Applications, Legal, and Operations teams
