Job Summary

The Client Stabilization Specialist works at a shelter or temporary lodging site, ensuring individuals or families who are entering the facility are stabilized. The role involves conducting intakes into HMIS, providing education on rules and responsibilities, resources, and overall orientation while in the facility. The Specialist conducts face‑to‑face visits, perimeter walks, and escalates issues that impact stabilization. They communicate with leadership and Client Care Coordinators regarding program violations, coordinate services for complex substance use, mental health, housing, and medical care needs, and complete data entry into the established system including violations, shift notes, room checks, and completing housing prioritization assessments.
Responsibilities

Conduct HMIS intakes for new arrivals.
Provide education on shelter rules, responsibilities, and available resources.
Orchestrate orientation for new residents.
Perform face‑to‑face visits and perimeter walks.
Escalate and monitor issues affecting stabilization.
Communicate with leadership and Client Care Coordinators about program violations.
Coordinate services for individuals with complex substance use, mental health, housing, and medical needs.
Complete data entry into the established system, including violations, end‑of‑shift notes, and room checks.
Identify need for and complete housing prioritization assessments for all individuals.
Skills & Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 12 months of recovery from substance use and/or mental health disorders.
1–3 years of full‑time health care related work experience with exposure to behavioral and medical crisis situations preferred.
Valid state identification required.
Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) certification per A.A.C. R9‑10‑101.33 and CBI Clinical Policies and Procedures preferred.
Completion of CBI Peer Certification within 90 days of hire.
Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card (program specific).
