Job Title: Project Engineer (Electric Distribution)
Location
Hybrid role based in Jackson, MI (preferred), with flexibility for Grand Rapids or Saginaw, MI.
Onsite work required 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday).
Travel to project sites and team meetings as needed.
Duration: 12+ months (With possible extension)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support and lead engineering efforts for complex projects within the Electric Distribution business area. This role functions as a Lead Project Engineer, working closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions from concept through execution.
The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, coordinating, reviewing, and executing engineering deliverables, while ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor engineering activities across multiple projects
Lead engineering tasks and support project managers in execution and delivery
Coordinate work between internal teams, external engineers, vendors, contractors, and fabricators
Review engineering deliverables and initiate corrective actions as needed
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, QA/QC policies, and specifications
Develop technical specifications for equipment and systems
Support project planning including forecasting, resource allocation, and scheduling
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members
Participate in Agile project delivery and help maintain performance against deadlines
Support contract management and ensure engineering deliverables meet contractual requirements
Build strong working relationships with business partners and stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
Experience in engineering/project engineering roles supporting infrastructure or utility projects
Strong knowledge of engineering design principles and standards
Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Electric Distribution projects (e.g., substations, feeders, system upgrades)
Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies
Familiarity with tools such as Unifier, ProjectWise, or similar systems
Experience with engineering contract management and deliverables tracking
