
Associate Mechanical Engineer

Job Responsibilities
Execute, with guidance, the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and project requirements under oversight from more senior engineers
Collaborate with analysis, materials, and other global engineering groups supporting the assigned project
Provide technical leadership and engineering support cross-functionally to supply chain, manufacturing and test/assembly
Formulate and implement plans to meet technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments of assigned components and systems
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues through root-cause analysis or nonconformance analysis where appropriate
Participate in technical and program reviews
Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects and/or tasks, consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Design products in accordance with industry standards (including API, ASME, BSSE)
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of relevant experience)
Strong technical aptitude for applying mechanical engineering skills to solve open-ended technical problems
Effective presentation and technical communication skills with both internal and external audiences
Desired Characteristics
Product knowledge of Oil & Gas rigs, both onshore and offshore
Experience designing pressure containing or load-bearing oil and gas equipment such as land or subsea BOPs, drilling risers, connectors, diverters, hydraulic control systems or similar equipment
Basic understanding of general material types, coating types, manufacturing techniques, and non‑destructive examination methods
Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing ANSI Y14.5M (GD&T)
Working knowledge of MS Office applications, MathCad, AutoCAD, and 3D parametric CAD tools
Desire to grow in technical capabilities and take on complex challenges
Ability to maintain project schedule while delivering expected results
Ability to work in a team environment on short- or long-term projects
