
CNC Machinist I - 2nd Shift

Position Summary
The CNC Machinist I produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. The role is performed in accordance with Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer‑driven innovation and a win‑first culture, and must meet company financial and other performance metrics.
Responsibilities
Operate CNC machines within specified tolerances following work instructions and engineering drawings.
Change dull tooling or make minor offsets and adjustments as needed for tooling wear.
Ensure product quality by working to operator‑owned quality (OOQ) standards, using measuring equipment, and interpreting inspection reports.
Perform routine maintenance per daily machine checklist and adhere to the preventive maintenance schedule.
Perform hand finishing.
Follow Good Manufacturing and Good Document Practices (GMP/GDP) by completing job routers/cards.
Maintain safe working practices, identifying and reporting safety, health, and environmental issues.
Achieve productivity targets and identify ways to improve productivity.
Record all activities promptly in the job tracking system.
Support and participate in continuous improvement activities.
Escalate manufacturing issues to the team leader or supervisor and participate in resolution as required.
Maintain 5S/housekeeping standards within the work area.
Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience working in a production environment.
Preferred Experience / Education
Associate’s degree or certificate in Tooling & Machining or a machinist apprenticeship.
GCSE/NVQ in Math and English (UK only).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to operate and maintain a CNC machine.
Solid math skills for measuring and record keeping.
Effective planning, prioritizing, and organizing tasks within specified timescales.
Ability to follow work instructions and maintain a record of quality and on‑time production runs.
Commitment to safety at all times.
Attention to detail and ability to perform repeatable tasks over a prolonged period.
Positive attitude, reliability, and teamwork.
Ability to identify problems and escalations as required.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Solid computer skills.
Physical and Other Requirements
Work may require standing, walking, using hands and fingers, reaching, talking or hearing, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and the ability to adjust focus.
