Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee nursing activities and ensure appropriate nursing staff coverage during the assigned shift.

Serve as the point-of-contact for interdisciplinary staff for coordination of nursing services for the assigned areas or the SSLC as a whole.

Respond to emergency situations with assessment, safety and care of individuals and staff; provide treatment to HHS employees injured on the job.

Perform complex nursing work including comprehensive physical assessments, health screenings, and treatments campus-wide; administer medications and monitor for adverse effects.

Provide oversight and coaching of nursing staff; delegate work and assist with on-the-job nursing instruction and training.

Develop and present information for inservice training or staff development; participate in competency-based training and continuing education to maintain nursing licensure and best practices.

Communicate with direct care staff, physicians, PCPs, administration, and other nursing staff to ensure optimal care as part of the interdisciplinary team.

Maintain professional relationships with facility employees and external agencies; follow all agency and facility policies and procedures.

Maintain and update electronic systems and tracking documents; coordinate care with other disciplines and prepare for care coordination meetings.

May participate in disaster response, Continuity of Operations (COOP), and other special assignments as requested.

Qualifications

Registrations, Licensure, and Certifications : Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

include nursing techniques, health care regulations, infection prevention, electronic health records, patient care, communication, staff training, crisis response, and leadership abilities. Must maintain CPR certification and demonstrate ability to manage nursing operations and supervise staff.

Experience :

At least 1 year of experience as a practicing registered nurse (required).

At least 2 years in a health agency, hospital, or health-care facility (preferred).

Experience with individuals with IDD (preferred).

Education : Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).

Other : Nursing supervisory experience is preferred; applicants may be required to pass background checks, drug screening, and related verifications. Must be 18+ years old; compliance with state regulations and agency policies is required.
