HVAC Technician Middletown Data Center--2nd Shift

This position will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of a wide range of electrical or mechanical equipment. It will ensure safe workplace practices are followed at all times and drive safety awareness through leading by example. The role includes predictive, preventive and proactive maintenance analysis and work to all codes and regulations while making equipment installations, adjustments and repairs in plant and office environments and assisting outside contractors on major projects. A broad working knowledge of trade‑specific codes is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assemble, install, test, and maintain equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand and power tools.

Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

Inspect all equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes.

Advise supervisor or management immediately if continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

Test systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.

Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and ordering supplies and equipment as needed.

Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair equipment and fixtures.

Provide assistance during emergencies by operating generators and other critical infrastructure equipment.

Respond and troubleshoot equipment problems within company‑owned facilities.

Improve plant/equipment reliability through historical trending and improved maintenance procedures.

Participate in failure analysis and vulnerability studies.

Assist in maintaining inspection and maintenance of life safety systems.

Execute equipment maintenance strategies (predictive and preventive).

Ensure compliance with federal and state codes.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional societies.

Be available to report for work during emergency situations such as storms and severe weather conditions.

Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure ongoing functioning of mechanical or electrical systems.

Carry out other duties or projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Active trade license (D2 or S2).

3+ years of experience in operations and maintenance of large commercial electrical or mechanical systems.

Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet company needs.

Ability to work with minimum supervision and complete multiple complicated tasks efficiently.

Strong communication skills and ability to deal tactfully at all levels of the organization.

Exceptional Organizational and Problem‑Solving Skills

Awareness of operational safety requirements in a critical environment and ability to apply and follow regulatory procedures.

Physical demands: The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, walk long distances, sit, stand, use hands to finger or handle, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds, and must use ladders or other lifting devices.

Time type: Full time

Pay range for this role is $21.10 - $44.99 per hour. This range represents the base hourly rate for the relevant job grade; the actual offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors. The position is eligible for bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive programs.
