Salary Information
Equipment Operator Journey 1: $31.62 per hour – OT eligible
Equipment Operator Journey 2: $33.44 per hour – OT eligible
Responsibilities
Equipment Operator Journey 1: Operate light‑duty equipment to perform maintenance activities supporting State of Alaska mission and infrastructure. Use heavy‑duty equipment in a training capacity.
Equipment Operator Journey 2: Operate heavy equipment to perform maintenance activities. Shift work may be required.
Qualifications
Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road.
Vehicle operation experience including cars, trucks, or watercraft.
Problem‑solving: identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.
Eye‑hand coordination for manipulating objects.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required upon hire. For Journey 1, obtain CDL within 180 days; for Journey 2, obtain CDL and N‑Tanker endorsement within 90 days.
Compliance with equipment operator flex letter of agreement, random drug and alcohol testing, and firearms qualification where applicable.
Background check and pre‑employment drug testing required.
