Cell Operator
Cell Operator: Responsible for system upkeep and operations of automated adapters used to interface with the Symbotic structure, ensuring system readiness to achieve performance targets and effectively operating equipment.
Responsibilities
Perform pre-production checks on automated adapters to confirm equipment is ready to run.
Process and monitor the flow through the automated storage and retrieval system, including manual inbound, automatic inbound, and automatic outbound, to achieve maximum throughput.
Prepare pallets for induction into the Symbotic storage and retrieval system.
Diagnose causes of system stoppages and restore service using Human/Machine Interface (HMI) and manual intervention.
Communicate and immediately report all production-impacting issues to operational leadership.
Contribute to overall system uptime through system preservation, robot recovery, suspect removal, and bot health actions.
Perform periodic system inspections, cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checking, and component validation.
Report out-of-spec conditions, perform root-cause corrective action, and maintain continuous operation of system components.
Utilize radio etiquette and obtain instructions from leadership.
Maintain rover bots, including replacing wheels, cleaning ESD brushes, sensors, etc.
Assist in automated robotic vehicle recovery within the Symbotic Matrix system, working in restrictive environments.
Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent experience or certification in electronics, automotive, automation, or manufacturing preferred.
Minimum of one year of experience with mechanical automation systems, education, or training, equivalently.
Proficiency in performing all system inspection functions, including cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checking, current measurements, and electrical system checks.
Ability to prioritize work to maximize uptime and throughput.
Demonstrated commitment to safety with ability to work independently following procedures and manuals.
Ability to multitask and perform multiple job functions simultaneously.
Physical Demands
Steep stairs may need to be climbed into the structure.
Regular proximity to high railings.
Operating in temperatures from 32°F to 105°F and protective gear may be required.
Required PPE: hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyewear, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
Frequent lifting of items up to 50lbs and moving items up to 80lbs.
Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours, frequent reaching with hands and arms.
Work at heights up to 45 feet and within restrictive 24-inch areas requiring balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Continuous and repetitive use of both hands and feet; compliance with lock-out/tag-out and fall-protection protocols.
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour. Compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.
