Locum tenens position
Seeking a board-certified or truly board-eligible Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Must have prior surgical experience
Two providers needed to cover a mix of day and night shifts
Schedule: Monday-Sunday
Days: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Inpatient coverage only
No call
Estimated shifts per provider: 8-10 per month - must be able to work at least 4 shifts a month in order to be considered
EMR: Epic
Inpatient coverage for Trauma and Emergency General Surgery (EGS) service
Level II Trauma Center
Team structure:
Day shift: 2 APPs
Night shift: 1 APP
APPs work closely with Trauma/Acute Care Surgeons
Morning rounds
OR first assisting
Evaluating new EGS consults
Managing inpatient surgical and trauma services
Responding to trauma activations
Critical care management
Performing bedside procedures, including:
Incision & drainage (I&D)
Laceration repairs
Chest tube placement
Central line placement
Average census: 20 patients/day
Average cases:
Day: 3 cases
Night: 1 case
Average admissions:
Day: 5
Night: 2-5
Average consults:
Day: 5
Cholecystectomy
Appendectomy
Trauma exploratory laparotomy
Colon resections
Graham patch repairs
Hernia repairs
No bariatric or foregut surgery
