Description
The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting the Controller in the preparation of the monthly financial information, managing areas such as income audit, payables, and receivables. Additional areas of responsibility include:
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries
Reconcile fully 90% of balance sheet work papers
Review preliminary financial statements and investigate discrepancies
Participate in monthly financial review
Prepare daily revenue and daily labor reports
Set up monthly department checkbooks
Direct and supervise all areas of the accounts receivable function (AP, cashiering, income audit, etc.)
Supervise inventory process on a monthly basis
Assist departments in interpretation, orientation, training, and analysis of accounting matters
Assist the Controller with the annual budgeting process
Represent the Controller in their absence
Requirements
Must have previous hotel/resort experience
Three to five years of experience with solid general ledger and month‑end close ownership
Supervisory experience (AP, AR, payroll, income audit)
Familiarity with hotel systems (e.g., PMS, POS integrations)
Understanding of departmental financials (rooms, F&B, spa, etc.)
Accounting degree preferred
Ability to work with guest and employee concerns in a friendly manner, including listening, demonstrating concern, and providing positive and proactive solutions
Knowledge of supervision and management techniques
Ability to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with employees and guests
Compensation
$100,000.00 – $105,000.00. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
